The connection that cuts emissions
Shore power enables ships to connect to a port’s electrical grid while at berth, allowing them to shut down onboard generators. This greatly reduces fuel consumption and emissions, strengthening port sustainability and helping shipowners meet increasingly strict environmental regulations.

Guided by standards, driven by change
It’s time to take charge and transform the way we power cleaner, safer, and more efficient ports, vessels and ferries to build more prosperous coastal communities.
Shore power technologies, also known as cold ironing, Onshore Power Supply (OPS) or Alternative Maritime Power (AMP), are the only solutions that cut emissions totally at berth. Shore power solutions enable the connection of ships in port to onshore power supplies that provide electricity for on-board services allowing diesel generators to be switched off.
The reduction in vessel emissions is no longer a nice-to-have and is increasingly becoming a legal requirement for the industry, following the latest standards and regulations.
Shore power is rapidly becoming a regulatory requirement under international and regional frameworks. Compliant with IEC/IEEE 80005 standards and ship class rules, it ensures safe and compatible connections across global ports. With initiatives such as FuelEU Maritime, the EU ETS, and national shore power policies in the EU, US (CARB), China, and India, adoption is accelerating worldwide — enabling shipowners to cut operating costs, improve sustainability, and maintain full compliance.

Onboard Cable Reel System
PoweAMPReel is a cable reeling system that is designed to be placed on board of ships and acts as the link between ship and shore electrical infrastructures. The system on ship allows the storage, deployment, and recovery of HV or LV electrical cables for connecting the vessel to a land-based power source during the port stay. This allows the ship to switch off its generators, thereby giving significant reductions in noise and air pollution.

Containerised Cable Reel System
PowerFit is a complete containerized solution for the high-voltage connection of vessels to shore (HVSC).
PowerFit includes all the necessary equipment for a HV shore connection: an PowerAMPReel, a HV switchboard, a control panel, a HV/LV transformer (when needed) & other auxiliary systems for an ease of operations. The container is also compartmented and fitted with interlocked doors, windows & cable hatches, smoke detection system to allow safe operations.

Onboard Shore Power Connection Box
Cavotec’s PowerReceive provides reliable shore power connectivity for vessels using shore-based cable management systems, including RORO, ROPAX, ferries, PCCs, tankers, LNG carriers, and bulk Carriers.
Engineered for heavy-duty marine operations, PowerReceive integrates robust connectors and a shore connection cabinet designed for safe, consistent performance. Its modular design allows easy adaptation to varying vessel requirements.
